Greetings from Synergy Wellness, your source for organically grown, artisanally crafted, small batch, medicinal cannabis products.

Featuring our newest tincture, Synergy Tsu, its benefits for you!
Synergy Tsu: Indica/Sativa CBD hybrid 24:1 CBD:THC
Phenotype of Canna Tsu (aka Canna Sue) with higher CBD:THC ratio.

Synergy Tsu , a higher CBD phenotype of Canna Tsu, originally developed by Lawrence Ringo of SoHum Seeds (Southern Humboldt Seed Company) is the result of crossbreeding Cannatonic and Tsunami parents. It is a favorite of many returning patients because of its medicinal effectiveness. Cannatonic’s popular and complex compounds, unveiled in an indica dominance that is tempered by Sour Tsunami’s sativa dominant soothing qualities, results in uplifting clarity. Overall, it offers some of the best CBD-hybrid options.

Synergy Tsu has many medicinal applications which include treatment of conditions needing higher CBD ratios, such as pain, stress, Chron’s disease, ALS, inflammation, anxiety and cancer. It can be effectively used in an extract form for skin conditions, beauty products and anti-aging cremes. Its high beta-Mycerene content helps with sleep problems and has a relaxing effect. 1

Notably: Synergy Tsu contains a high proportion of an often overlooked cannabinoid,CBDV ( Cannabibvarin ), recently garnering increased attention for its ability to interact with pain receptors in the body, studies of CBDV indicate it is likely Neuroprotective, Anti-emetic, Anti-epileptic, promotes bone growth and regeneration. Other properties remain to be investigated.

In 2014, the Endocannabinoid Research Group in Italy published  a study  in the journal ACS Chemical Neuroscience. Examining the effect of cannabinoids in the treatment of epilepsy and found that both CBD and CBDv play multiple roles in helping reduce and modulate seizure activity. Reported the study’s researchers:

“CBDv reduced both epileptiform burst amplitude and duration.” 2

Help make CBD legal

The DEA recently added a new category for cannabis concentrates. In that announcement, it made clarification statements that all cannabis plants and products, including CBD and industrial hemp, are Schedule 1 substances. FYI, Schedule 1 substances include heroin and other substances that have no medicinal value plus have tendencies to be addictive with high abuse.

Feedback from our 4,000 members has shown CBD has no psychoactive effect, has zero potential for abuse or addiction and has proven medicinal value, even saving lives.  On the average, our members have been able to reduce opioid intake by 60% within 3 weeks, on their way to ending all opioid use.  As you can imagine, pharmaceutical companies are not happy about this.

Yesterday, a family thanked us for providing CBD medicine that saved the life of their 4 year old son with intractable epilepsy. Four times he almost died requiring visits to the ER because he stopped breathing. Today, with our CBD medicine, his seizures have stopped. We hear stories like this every day. It touches our heart and this is why we are here. We know for a fact that CBD does have very effective medicinal value.

For about one year now, I have been predicting that President Barak Obama would take CBD off the DEA Schedule 1 classification before he left office, January 17, 2017.  Now, there is a petition to him to do exactly that.  FYI, I usually do not get involved in political or legal causes, however, I think we can have an impact and possibly make a difference.  You can help make this happen.

Clinical Trials for seizures using CBD
GW Pharmaceutical in the UK has been performing some clinical trials on a product called Epidiolex, which is made from an extract of a cannabis plant high in CBD. This is not a synthetic product, rather it is a whole plant extract that has a 24:1 CBD:THC ratio, much the same as our ACDC strain. This is very exciting news and an answer to the many people who say that “there is no evidence, no clinical trial” to prove CBD works. Below is a graph of results for the UK based clinical trial of pediatric patients with Dravets and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome that are non-responsive to other pharmaceutical treatment. 52% of the patients had an 80% decrease in seizures, 32% had a decrease of 25 – 75% in seizures and 0% had an increase in seizures.

Titrating Dose
ProjectCBD.org
has posted an important conversation between Bonni Goldstein, MD and Martin Lee. Bonni is one of the most respected medical doctors prescribing CBD for epileptic children and cancer patients. I like her approach on finding the right dose by starting low and titrating up. It’s very informative.

The Healer Within
We believe that each individual has a Healer within their own self. There is a guidance system built into each of us for the purpose of healing and bringing us into a natural state of balance and harmony. With practice, each one of us can improve our intuition and listening ability to help with our healing process. This is important when choosing a strain or titrating the dose for our CBD medicines. It also helps deciding which food and supplements we need, as well as deciding which situations will reduce stress and anxiety. Often, during a consultation, we try to help empower your own Healer Within. Tim O’ Shay discusses this in The Doctor Within.

Endocannabinoid System
The Endocannabinoid System is the natural interior mechanism that facilitates the bodies use of cannabinoids. The human body comes pre-wired for the use of cannabis. There are receptors (CB1 & CB2) that trigger channels to open allowing the flow of an endocannabinoid substance called “Anandamide”. Raphael Mechoulam, named his newly discovered substance Anandamide after the Sanskrit word “Ananda” meaning Joy. Greg Gerdeman talks about the Endocannabinoid System and how it works.

Reducing Opioid Medication.
Our network of medical doctors has reported that their patients have been able to significantly reduce their use of opiate based medication after introducing our cannabis products into their protocol. A research project in Michigan confirms our clients experience, that after 3-4 weeks use of medical cannabis, they were able to decrease their prescription drugs by 64%, decrease the side effects and improve their quality of life. We have found best results with our 4:1 CBD:THC ratio tinctures. For more information, read here.

Product Item Numbers
Recently at Synergy Wellness, we have established an ordering system for products. We now have an item number for each product that you can use to order. Please see the current price list and order using the Item Number. This should help eliminate confusion on product identification and reduce errors in ordering. All tinctures listed on our price list are now in stock.

September 2015 Newsletter

The summer has been good to us, and to our plants, although the drought and fires in nearby counties have done great damage to thousands of people, including many of our friends.  We send our prayers and best wishes to those who are suffering and those who have sustained great loss.

This coming autumn season is about thankfulness, completion and harvest. Over the coming three to six weeks, we will begin our fall harvest. Different strains mature at different times – and the high-CBD strains used medically, are the last to mature. If you grow ACDC or Valentine, be patient – they need to ripen further. We use a microscope to examine the trichomes, and we wait until we see 30 to 40% amber color before we harvest.

CBD for Pain
I recently had an elective surgery on the rotator cuff of my left shoulder. When I left the hospital, Kaiser gave me a bottle of oxycodone for the pain. I elected to use CBD instead.  I am now 6 weeks post-operation. I was able to complete the healing journey without using narcotics. I did use ibuprofen once, the first night, thinking I would need it to help me sleep. It turned out that CBD and ice was much better for controlling the swelling than the ibuprofen.

Here’s how I medicated myself:  I used a tinctures of ACDC, 4:1 Indica blend and canna sue. I supplemented this with a vape pen of the 4:1, as recent research sited the 4:1 CBD:THC ratio as being the best for pain.  I always use my intuition to decide what and how much to use.  The combo helped tremendously, and I was able to get through the first 4 weeks much easier than I expected. CBD is anti-inflammatory, and it enables the body to heal itself in many ways. For more information, read this article on the Endocannabinoid System of the brain – the primary vehicle for the body’s response to CBD and other cannabinoids. After all, the use of cannabis for pain is one of the oldest medicines and was first prescribed in China over 5,000 years ago for cramps and pain.

CBD round chart

The holistic view indicates that the body is capable of healing itself. The body is intelligent. The body’s healing system is in communication with all cells, tissues, and organs. It also communicates with our mind, emotions and spirit.  Health and wholeness is not static – it’s a constantly shifting dynamic, balancing and re-balancing in a synergistic way, with everything working together. Pain is a signal, a clear message that’s saying, “Hey, I need some attention here!  Something is out of balance.  Send some love this way and get this taken care of!”

Pain pills, such as opiates, act as a mask on top of the pain, interfering with the body’s intelligent communication system.   It breaks the communication link and causes pain receptors to not function properly. The problem still exists, but we cannot hear the signals.  They may provide some comfort, but they don’t necessarily help with the job of healing that the body is trying to do. Certainly, there are unwanted side effects.

CBD-rich cannabis takes the sharp edge off the pain, which allows us to process the signals and deal with them. Secondly, through the endocannabinoid system, communication is enhanced between the affected problem area and the rest of the system. This opens the path for the body’s natural healing process to take place.

Because the brain and mind are intimately intertwined, our words can have a powerful impact. When you use the word “pain”, for example, you have placed whatever you are feeling into a box and labeled the box “pain.”  Once it is in the box, it’s hard to get it out.

Here’s a technique that will keep you out of the pain box. Instead of labeling what you’re experiencing as “pain,” keep your mind open and observe the actual sensation, as it is, without labeling it.  This allows the information from the nervous system to come through to your attention. It also allows the sensation to change, lighten up, or dissolve completely. Describe the sensation just as it is, in physical terms, and continue to observe it and describe it as it changes (i.e. throbbing, sharp, red hot)

As you continue to observe and describe the sensation, it will inevitably change, lighten up, or disappear completely.  You are allowing the information to come through just-as-it-is, rather than putting it in a box and trying to ignore it or push it away. Chinese medicine says that if “chi,” or life energy, is flowing, then healing is happening. You can say the same thing about information circulating in the nervous system.  In his book, Whole Body Intelligence, Steve Sisgold gives more insight into this phenomenon. And if you’d like to be guided through this amazing clearing process, check out the iPhone app,iClearIt,” in which a video coach guides you through the process, step-by-step.

Increased Potency

We recently increased the potency of both our ACDC tincture and infused oil products. We raised the potency from 13 mg/ml to 17 mg/ml. Now the one ounce bottle has 500 mg CBD and the two ounce bottle has 1,000 mg CBD.

Summer 2015 Newsletter

I hope you are enjoying your summertime. A good time to be outdoors in nature. Mother nature promotes healing, reduces stress and gives one a feeling of calm and relaxation.

There has been much in the news about Cannabidiol (CBD) lately. While CBD does promote healing on many levels, we believe that CBD inspires the body to heal itself, both on a cellular micro level and overall body macro level. It inspires and enables health, balance and vitality. At the same time, it reduces stress and inflammation. It is a neuro-protector, helping eliminate seizures. It also inhibits the growth of cancer cells.

We believe that your body has an inherent healing capacity built into the system. Part of this is the endocannabinoid system, CBD triggers the endocannabinoid to wake up and come alive.

The fact that your body is replete with cannabinoid receptors, key to so many biological functions, is why there’s such enormous medical potential for cannabis. CBD may be the most potent and beneficial of the cannabinoids, particularly for tamping down an overactive immune system, as is the case with autoimmune disease. CBD also has antipsychotic properties but does not get you high.

The endocannabinoid system was first discovered by Rafael Mechoulam, an Israeli scientist. He also was the first person to identify CBD, THC, and many of the other 85 known cannabinoids (CBN, CBC, CBG, THCa, CBDa, etc). Mechoulam has become known as the grandfather of cannabis. A very interesting documentary of his life, titled “The Scientist” can be seen here

Trichome micro 3

This is a picture of magnified trichomes.  These are the resin glands on the cannabis flowers. They contain the CBD medicine, together with the THC and other cannabinoids.

For many raised and living within a Western model to health and wellness, it is easy to overlook other systems’ medical perspectives. Rasayana and Ayurveda are two Vedic (pre-Hindu) sciences of lengthening the lifespan and the wellness of life, respectively. Rasayana literally translates as the Path (āyana) of essence (rasa), while Ayurveda is a popular form of Indian medicine still practiced to this day. Together, they offer a point of contrast to a Western approach that focuses upon illness and disease only after it manifests in the body.

If we assume an Eastern approach and view the body’s natural state as health, then illness occurs when the body has become out of balance and more susceptible. It focuses upon maintaining optimal wellness, to keep the body healthy and prevent illness. In this way, medicine is intended to inspire the body to heal and rebalance itself rather than healing the body directly. Cannabis, referenced heavily in Vedic texts, is thought to be an ingredient in Soma. The sacred elixer, Soma, was used ceremonially to increase vitality and intelligence and to prolong life. Our intention at Synergy Wellness is that cannabis be an offering to inspire your body to rebalance and heal.

Latest Research
Bone Healing –
Recent news on CBD includes use on healing bone fractures. Again from Israel, Dr. Yankel Gabet and Itai Bab have discovered that using CBD (without THC) will speed up the recovery of broken bones and that the healed broken bones will be stronger than the original bones, preventing future breaking.

Social Anxiety – Studies show that CBD is very good for social anxiety. As little as one dose drastically reduced anxiety levels, cognitive impairment and fear of public speaking, eliminating thoughts of negative self-evaluation. After taking CBD, MRI scans showed increased activity in the limbic and paralimbic portions of the brain, linked to anxiety.

CBD & NIH – The National Institute of Health (NIH) has acknowledged that CBD does have positive effects for Anti-seizure, Neuro-protective, Anti-Inflammatory, Analgesic (pain relief), Anti-Tumor, Anti-Cancer, Anti-Psychotic, Anti-Anxiety and treatment of substance use disorders. The US Government is actually Funding Studies on many of these applications of CBD, including cancer, epilepsy and psychiatric disorders.

Immune System – There is evidence that boosting the immune system will greatly help your treatment of many diseases, including cancer, seizures as well as general health. Turkey Tail mushroomsTumericCordyceps, Reishi and Shiitaki mushrooms are all very beneficial in boosting the immune system.

Spring 2015 Newsletter

Greetings,

Spring is here in full glory with its many flowering blossoms and warm days. This is my favorite time of year, where creativity and regrowth abound in nature.

Here at Synergy Wellness we have some new products we are very excited about. We have been making some very concentrated oils using carbon dioxide (CO2) extraction method. This is generally accepted as the healthiest processing method.

Why CO2?

Generally, using cannabis oil is more healthful than smoking flowers. But many cannabis oils use toxic substances in the extraction process. Butane, the most common solvent, is a known cause of cancer and best not ingested. Alcohol, while not quite as unhealthy, produces a dark green final product and chlorophyll has a harsh taste.

Using carbon dioxide (CO2), a naturally occurring element, has many benefits. The process allows terpenes of the cannabis strain to remain intact while preserving a broad spectrum of cannabinoids. Terpenes themselves have healthful qualities. For example, Beta Caryophyllene, a common cannabis terpene, has anti-inflammatory properties and is also found in turmeric and cumin. Every strain has a unique profile of terpenes and cannabinoids that interact, creating specific health effects upon the body.

Every step in creating Synergy CBD products exudes intention and care, especially compared to most commercial CO2 industrial hemp CBD oil. Many commercial oils are made from hemp grown in China. One risks pesticide bioaccumulation, as toxins become more potent when consumed at concentrated levels. Industrial hemp oil is always made from stems and seeds.  The CBD content is usually 12-18%. Compare it to our CO2 oil, which is hand crafted in small batches, is made from high-grade organically–grown fully matured cannabis flowers and buds (no seeds or stems) and contains 72% CBD. The complete cannabinoid profile is maintained intact without the chlorophyll or natural wax.

This is the certificate from the lab test

We are offering CO2 oil both as a filled vaporizer cartridge, as well as the oil in individual applicator containers. No, the syringe is not to be injected. Rather it offers a method of managing and dispensing the oil, because the oil is sticky and difficult to manage. Syringes make them easier to handle. We have four different ratios of CBD:THC available because people have different medical conditions and different personal preferences.

       24:1 CBD:THC      725 mg CBD  +  30 mg THC

       7:1   CBD:THC       550 mg CBD  +  77 mg THC

       4:1   CBD:THC       500 mg CBD + 125 mg THC

       1:1   CBD:THC       325 mg CBD + 325 mg THC

Please check our product offering webpage and our Price List webpage for more details. Compare these numbers to other products in the market. I believe there is nothing close to it in purity, potency and price.

When would someone use CO2 oil versus the tinctures? Here are the pros and cons. If someone needs large doses (3-4 ml of tincture / dose of tincture is often recommended for cancer), the CO2 oil becomes a more economical to access higher levels of CBD. However, be aware that the CO2 oil is far more difficult to manage. It is sticky and messy and often gets all over everything, resulting in product being waisted.

However, if someone requires lower doses of tincture (.5-1.5 ml = 10-30 drops), it is much easier to measure the tinctures and olive oil based products. Functionally, it is impossible to accurately measure small amounts of CO2 oil. For low doses, one can count the drops of olive oil or tincture.

How to Use?

As mentioned, the oil is very thick and viscous. Even though it is called an oil, it is more like a tar or sticky paste. Heating it lowers the viscosity making it runny and cooling increases viscosity. If you want to get small amounts out, use it in a cooler state. It can be put it in capsules, suppositories, smeared on the gums, put in food, smoked as dabs or applied topically. The taste is very intense and most people prefer to cover it up. It will not dissolve in water and for cleanup, use alcohol or acetone. Each 3 gram syringe comes with a dispensing needle for loading capsules.

Summer 2014 Newsletter

Greetings,

We’ve been expanding so rapidly, I’m pleased to report, that we’ve been a bit lax in keeping you informed about what’s been going on—and that’s first on our list from now on.  We’ll be sending out an updated newsletter more often going forward. In the past months we’ve experienced a gratifying response from our clients that strengthens our belief that CBD is a natural and effective palliative medicine. Our members have been reporting many benefits of CBD for various conditions ranging from pain, inflammation, neurological seizures and cancer to Lyme’s disease, PTSD, diabetes and Alzheimer’s.  I want to extend a personal note of gratitude to all of our members who have taken the time to share your feedback of your healing journey. It is immensely gratifying to work with such loving people and be able to help you on your path.

Since there continues to be a lot of confusion surrounding CBD, as well as excitement, I’ve answered some of the most common questions below:

What Strain is Best For Me?

Because of the uniqueness and complexity, there are no quick shortcuts. While I make no medical claims, I try to match a strain to the persons specific needs based on my experience and their input. Many different factors play a role:

You, as a unique individual, are equipped with a unique body chemistry, sensitivity, body weight, and tolerance to the cannabis, combined with their medical conditions and various pharmaceuticals you may be taking, which alter every person’s chemical balance.
Cannabis is a very complex herbal plant. It contains 85+ different cannabinoids (THC, CBD, etc) and 50+ terpenes (creates aroma and also has medicinal properties). These are all combined together to make a natural herbal medicine. The overall combination is called the “Entourage Effect”.
Each disease or medicinal effect desired will not always require the same strain from one person to the next. While many people may find one strain will be the most effective in aligning with their endocannabinoid CB1 and CB2 receptor points, others find a different strain works best.
For all of these reasons, we believe it is important to identify and label the specific strains we use in our products. The properties of the strains will be consistent over time and even from different sources. Synergy Wellness always identifies the strains used in tinctures and other products, while many other producers only identify the potency or the ratio of CBD:THC, if you are lucky. While this is important, it is just one data point. There is a myriad of other complex factors that contribute to the total effectiveness. Keeping track of how each strain effects you is important to managing your overall health and healing process. I urge you to keep a daily log of strain and dose. It also helps us identify what may work best in the future.

In general, the two main things we look at are a) Indica vs Sativa and b) CBD vs THC
Indica is relaxing, body oriented and lowers the energy level. Good for body pain, sleep issues, reducing symptoms. Sativa is stimulating, cerebral and raises the energy level. Sativa is often used for depression, creativity and stimulating appetite.
THC is the psychoactive component that makes one “high” (Sativa) or “Stoned” (Indica). THC does have some medicinal attributes. It helps shrink tumors, reduce pain and stimulates appetite. CBD is non-psychoactive. It reduces inflammation, inhibits the growth of cancer cells, reduces stress, anxiety, tremors, pain, and is good for Lyme’s disease, Chron’s disease, and a long list of other ailments.

Synergy Wellness collective is focused on CBD strains. We are specialists in this area and have flowers of 9 different strains in stock.

How much should I take?

Finding the correct dose is a process of experiential feedback. There is a window of efficacy. Too little will not have enough or any effect. Too much may have negative side effects or less medicinal benefits. The effects are at times biphasic—higher doses causing effects opposite to those seen at low doses. For this reason we always recommend starting off with a very low dose and slowly raising it over time, to find the lower and upper limits of the window of effectiveness. Research by Raphael Michoulam and also at the Nova Institute, have found the dosing of cannabis to have this biphasic property.  For most people, the window for CBD is somewhere between 0.10 – 2.0 mg/lb per day, usually divided into 2-3 doses taken orally.

Research Update

Epilepsy

I noticed a recent research study of children with severe epileptic type seizures that were not responding to other drug therapies. On the average, the patient had tried 12 different pharmaceutical drugs used in combination and were not getting positive results. Instead there were serious side effects. They then went on to use high CBD, low THC cannabis as a therapy.  Parents reported that 84% of the children had either a complete or partial (25%+) reduction in frequency, intensity and duration of the seizure. This is consistent with our findings with our members. Many children start out with partial seizure control and after several months, they become totally seizure free. As several of our members mentioned, the seizures hold the whole family hostage. Everyone is affected. When I learn that they see their child laugh and play for the first time, it truly warms my heart.  Please read this touching client story.

Cancer

Some of our members have reported that cannabinoids in marijuana slow cancer growth, inhibits formation of new blood cells that feed a tumor, as well as help manage pain, fatigue, nausea, and other side effects. While CBD is the main component responsible for these effects, we find that THC also appears to provide value in shrinking tumors. However, the high psychoactive effect of the THC often limits the amount of cannabis that can be ingested. We believe THC also works as a catalyst with the CBD. Together, they work much better than either one by itself. The synergy of the entourage effect is much more powerful. We have learned from members that our tinctures with the ratio of 4:1 CBD:THC have been most beneficial. Working with cancer is a healing process that takes time. Often 3-4 months are needed to shrink tumors by 40-50%. While we are delighted to share this information, please keep in mind that this information is anecdotal feedback from our members and it is not scientific in nature. CBD silences expression of the ID-1 gene, causing the cancer cell to stop reproducing. This reduces the stress level in the cell, allowing the body to find a new state of natural balance vibrant in health and healing.

Ancient Wisdom (contributed by Sandeep Kumar)

Ganga’s Roots: This colloquial term for cannabis is derived from the Ganges River of Northern India. The river itself, known as the Ganga (although pronounced with a hard “g”), played host in one ancient myth to Hindu deity Shiva, who came down from the Himalayas to the foot of the Ganges River to share the divine gift of cannabis with humanity. Shiva, is often associated with the sacred plant and prayers to Shiva are usually offered before partaking.

ACDC Testimonial for Epilepsy

My son was diagnosed with Epilepsy at 9 months old and had been having seizures since he was 4 months old. At first, the seizures resembled reflux and lasted a few seconds. The seizures became progressively worse over time, despite trying several medications, the ketogenic diet, and combinations of medication.  His quality of life began to deteriorate and his development started regressing. He had developed a few different seizure types and was having 20 to 30 seizures each day. Some of the seizures lasted 4 or 5 minutes. Some were brief, but extremely violent, causing him injuries. Sometimes, he would stop breathing and turn blue. We’ve learned how to administer rescue meds and made several trips to the ER as well. It was a traumatic experience to see our son slowly slipping away into a haze of seizures, medication, and hospital trips . We heard stories of cannabis for treatment of seizures and started our journey. We had a difficult time sorting through all of the products that claim to be ‘high CBD’. We were referred to Synergy Wellness by a group of parents that were using it successfully. We are giving him the ACDC olive oil tincture since January 2014. On May 18th, he had a seizure free day. When he had seizures, they were less intense. The last 52 days have been seizure free. More importantly – he is laughing, playing on his own, developing, babbling, and living. We are in the process of weaning the last medication. His therapists (OT/PT/Speech) are amazed at the recent progress.

We are so grateful for the commitment that Denise and Leonard have for helping children with seizures. Epilepsy had taken our entire family hostage and now we are starting to reclaim our lives.

Spring 2014

Greetings,

Even though it is still officially Winter, around here it looks like spring. I am seeing cherry and plum blossoms on the trees. Two weeks ago there were three salmon in our tiny seasonal creek, spawning babies. A very rare and welcome sight. Spring is my favorite time of year.

Epilepsy

Here is a picture that is worth more than 1,000 words.

The top picture is an EEG scan of a brain of a child with Epilepsy that is on several heavy pharmaceutical drugs.

The bottom picture is after 3 months use of cannabis rich in CBD.

Our client base and product line is expanding most rapidly in the epileptic community. We provide a tincture that is made with olive oil for the kids.

Valentine

I wanted to get this newsletter to you around Valentines Day, but I have been so busy. Our new strain is called Valentine X. It is slightly stronger than ACDC testing at 25:1 CBD:THC ratio. St. Valentine is the patron saint for Epilepsy and this medicine is especially good for Epileptic children. We make an olive oil based tincture of ACDC for the kids and it has proven to be very effective (90% effective) in reducing frequency, intensity and duration of the seizures.

While I do not have very much product at this time, I do have a few bottles of both alcohol based and oil based Valentine. I would like to make these available to a few families to test the efficacy compared to ACDC. Limit one ounce per family for now. We are growing a lot of these plants now and there will be product in two months. Contact Leonard for details.

Clones

At Synergy Wellness, we have been making lots of baby clones, both for ACDC and Valentine. Since Valentine looks and acts a lot like the ACDC strain, I am sure it is closely related. The flowers of Valentine tested at 18% CBD. For those interested in growing these strains, we have lots of babies available.

Leaves

For those of you that are interested in juicing the leaves, please know that this is a very seasonal event for us to have enough leaves to share with you. Now is the time. We have lots of leaves. Come by and pick up a bag or two. Each bag has 1.5-2 lbs of leaves and our fridge is getting quite full.

Research

Here are some recent articles of research on CBD and cannabinoids.

Autumn 2013 Post

Greetings,

Autumn Equinox

Today is the first day of Autumn 2013 and you can feel the days shortening. Friday night we had our first rain in a long time. We spent a couple of hours rigging a covering over our outdoor crop to protect it from rain damage. A portion of the crop has already been harvested on full moon and the remaining portion is getting quite plump with juicy medicine. You can see from pictures that the crop is incredibly happy.

This is a special time of year. We give thanks for the bountiful fruits we are harvesting from the seeds we planted last spring. Terumi’s Spirit of Feng Shui insight in her latest newsletter is quite inspiring. http://spiritoffengshui.com/classes.htm

Epilepsy

We have been quite busy. Our collective has been expanding about 20% each month as news of CBD spreads. CNN had a show a few weeks ago, with Sanjay Gupta, their senior Medical Analyst. He showcased a 5-year-old girl in Colorado with severe epilepsy. After taking a CBD rich extract, her seizures went from 300 per week to 1 per week.

It was so heart warming and touching to see this dramatic change, especially how it affected the parents. CNN is very mainstream and since then, we have been very busy. Our name has been passed around the network of parents with epileptic children. As it turns out, our ACDC strain is very close to Charlotte’s Web, the strain used in Colorado, as it has the perfect ratio of 20:1 CBD:THC for epilepsy. Client feedback indicates tremendous results using the ACDC tincture for epilepsy and parents are extremely grateful. Here is Sanjay Gupta’s video on CBD and epilepsy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyf-ffoatHg

ACDC Blends

We have formulated a couple of blends of CBD rich tincture that are striving to achieve a ratio of 3:1 or 4:1 CBD:THC. Research as well as client feedback indicates that this ratio is optimum for diseases such as cancer, tumors, inflammation related diseases as well as pain issues. The CBD is important, but having a small amount of THC present actually increases the overall effectiveness of the medicine. It is the synergy of all the different elements working together. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

We have two ACDC blends:

CBD Indica blend containing ACDC, Canna Tonic and Canna Sue
CBD Sativa blend containing ACDC, Harlequin and Sour Tsunami.
We recommend using the sativa blend in the morning and the Indica Blend at night. If you are taking 3 doses per day, the afternoon dose will be half sativa & half indica.

Lab Testing

Most of our new clients come from word of mouth from satisfied existing clients. I guess people have been saying nice things about us. One of our members grew some of our ACDC clones and took them to Steep Hill Labs for testing. Steep Hill is the premier cannabis testing lab in California. The test results were amazing with 24.5% CBD and .9% THC. Kudos to Skylar for a great job. Other clients had taken some of our products there for testing also, with great results around 20% CBD. Yesterday, the president of Steep Hill Labs paid us a visit and to check out our operation. We had a wonderful time together. He was quite impressed.

Consultations

As our operation expands, it has become necessary to bring on help. We are in the process of hiring a new office manager to make sure things do not slip through the cracks. We are also implementing new software currently. Please be patient with us during the transition. In addition, Leonard’s time has become more in demand. Consequently, we have initiated a new policy that includes a consulting fee. This is primarily for new clients needing assistance in strain and dose recommendations. The consultation process is a mixture of Art and Science. Results of research, as well as client feedback are used to assess the individual needs of each client. Intuitive techniques assist in the process. The recommended donation is $100/hr. For hardship cases, there is a sliding scale. Please let us know your needs.

London Sunday Times

Just when I think that life is so wonderful and couldn’t get any better, Something grand happens to totally blow my mind, in a good way. We were mentioned in the London Sunday Times today. One of our members, Amelia Powers, was interviewed about her recovery from cancer.

She is passionate about the use of cannabis for her healing journey from an aggressive brain tumor and wants to let the world know about its talented designer. Given the Feds stance on cannabis, we are keeping a low profile. I did not want my name or Synergy’s name used in the article. Amelia refers to me as “the Wizard of Woodacre”. A very fitting moniker. If you do a Google search on wizard and Woodacre, it takes you to our Synergy Wellness website.

The Sunday Times article is a shorter version of this article:

CBD

Cannabis is such a complex plant. It has 85+ cannabinoids and 50+ terpenes. Each strain has a different combination of ratios and values of the components working together. We believe that CBD is the most important ingredient. However, we know the healing medicine needs all the components working together in a synergistic harmony.

Partners

Several members of our collective got ACDC clones last spring and have been growing them outdoors. If you are interested in getting the healing medicine out into the world, we would love to partner with you. As knowledge of CBD increases, demand also increases.  We could use any ACDC plant material for the tincture supply. Please contact our office to discuss this.

Please contact us for more information.

Testimonial:

I’ve been using Synergy Wellness products for almost 3 years now. They have helped me greatly with symptom relief from the conventional cancer treatments that I chose. I’ve found no better medicine for relief of chemo induced nausea and radiation induced nerve damage pain than the organic, cbd-rich products that are grown with love right here in Marin. It’s nice to have a friend that I trust to provide safe and gentle medicine for my ongoing fight. Thank you for your progressive and natural care.
